How Pro Trading Journal Payments Work: USDC on Solana, No Card, No Wallet Connection

Pro Trading Journal now accepts USDC on Solana for Pro. No card, no subscription, no wallet connection — a QR code, an address, and an exact amount. Here's exactly how it works and why we built it this way.

🔐

Why We Didn't Build a Normal Checkout

A lot of the traders who use Pro Trading Journal are outside the US — trading PSX, running crypto across a handful of exchanges, sending payments across borders where a recurring card charge is either impossible to set up or just one more piece of financial infrastructure you didn't ask for. Cards mean a processor, a processor means a country-approved merchant account, and a subscription means a card on file that can silently fail, expire, or get charged for a month you meant to cancel.

So Pro is now prepaid in USDC on Solana. Pay once, get a fixed number of days of Pro, done. No card ever touches this product. No subscription to remember to cancel, because there's nothing recurring to cancel.

The One Rule: We Never Ask You to Connect a Wallet

This is the part that makes crypto checkout feel different from every other crypto product you've used.

Most "pay with crypto" buttons want you to plug in a wallet extension and sign something. We don't do that, on purpose. Connecting a wallet hands a website your public address — and your public address is a permanent, searchable record of every balance and transaction you've ever had. We don't want that link to exist, and you shouldn't have to create it just to buy a $24 subscription.

Instead, checkout shows you three things:

  • A QR code encoding a standard [Solana Pay](https://solanapay.com) request
  • The exact address to send to, in copyable chunks
  • The exact amount, down to the last six decimal places

Scan the QR with any Solana Pay-compatible wallet, or copy the address and amount and send from anywhere — a wallet app, or straight from an exchange withdrawal screen. We never see which wallet you used, and we never store the address you paid from. Access is granted purely by reading the transfer back off the public chain.

Why the Amount Looks Odd

Open an invoice and you won't see a clean 24.00. You'll see something like 23.938562.

That's deliberate, and here's the honest reason. A Solana Pay QR carries a hidden reference that lets us match your payment to your invoice automatically. But a lot of real payments — anyone sending from an exchange withdrawal screen — can't carry that reference; the exchange just sends a plain transfer. For those, the exact amount is the only thing that identifies the invoice it belongs to.

So every invoice gets a small, random discount off the list price — never more, only less — making its amount unique among every other invoice open at that moment. Send the exact figure shown and the payment finds its own invoice with no wallet address, no account number, and no manual matching required.

One consequence worth knowing if you're paying from an exchange: if your exchange deducts its withdrawal fee from the amount you send, the transfer will land short of the invoice. Add the fee on top so the exact amount arrives, or use the QR/reference path from a wallet instead, which tolerates a small underpayment automatically.

What Happens After You Send

Send USDC -> Solana finalizes (~seconds) -> We read the transfer off-chain -> Pro unlocks

A wallet payment with the reference attached is usually detected within moments of finalizing — the checkout page is watching and updates itself live, no refresh needed. An exchange withdrawal without a reference is matched by amount the same way, typically within a few minutes.

If you close the tab before it confirms, nothing is lost. A background sweep re-checks the treasury on a schedule, so a payment that arrives after you've walked away still gets credited automatically. A late payment is still a valid payment — the checkout window closing only hides the QR code, it never forfeits what you sent.

Already sent it and want confirmation without waiting? Paste the transaction signature into the checkout page and it verifies immediately.

The Security Model, Plainly Stated

A few decisions we made on purpose, because "trust us" isn't good enough for something that touches money:

  • We never store the wallet address you paid from. It's read once, from the public chain, to confirm the transfer — then forgotten. It is never attached to your account.
  • We never ask for a wallet connection, so there is no signature for a malicious site to trick you into approving. You are always sending a normal transfer, the same action you'd take to pay anyone.
  • The application itself cannot spend the funds it receives. The treasury address is a multi-signature wallet requiring more than one independent approval to move anything — the app can watch it, but it holds no key that could ever authorize a withdrawal.
  • Every accepted mint is checked against Circle's official USDC contract address. Solana lets anyone create a token called "USDC" with a matching name and symbol; only transfers of the real, official token are ever credited.
  • Every credited transaction is recorded once and only once, enforced at the database level — the same payment can never be replayed to extend your access twice.

One Plan, Every Market

Nothing about pricing changed with the payment method. Pro is $24/month or $199/year (save 31% on the annual plan), and it's still one subscription that unlocks everything — crypto, US stocks, and the Pakistan Stock Exchange. We don't split markets behind separate paywalls, and there's no lifetime tier to weigh against a subscription; one transparent plan, same price whether you're charting BTCUSDT, US:AAPL, or PSX:HBL.

If Something Goes Sideways

Underpaid by a few cents, or sent from an address the system couldn't match automatically? Nothing is ever silently lost. Short payments are held for manual review rather than auto-rejected, and any transfer that can't be matched to an invoice is flagged rather than guessed at — we will never attribute an ambiguous payment to the wrong account. Email support with your invoice ID and it gets sorted by hand.

Try It

If you've been holding off on Pro because a card subscription didn't fit how you actually operate, this is built for you. Head to pricing, pick monthly or annual, and pay with USDC from any wallet or exchange — no card, no wallet connection, nothing to cancel later.
